DOBO – Documentary Film (January 2025)

Co-directed by Yodit Tadess and Fitsum Beza, with Fitsum Beza serving as the Director of Photography and Eyuale Yeshitela as Editor, DOBO is a cinematic documentary that takes viewers deep into the heart of Ethiopia’s Omo Valley. The film follows a young woman from the city as she journeys into the world of the Hamar people, immersing herself in their daily lives, rituals, and sense of community.

Through her experience, the film becomes a poetic reflection on beauty, love, and human connection, inviting audiences to see the harmony between traditional culture and modern identity. The documentary was shot on a Sony FX3 using a 35mm, 70–200mm GM, and 50mm f/1.8 Sony lens, supported by Mavic Pro 2 drone footage and stabilized with a DJI RS4 Pro gimbal to achieve fluid, cinematic movement.

Post-production was completed in DaVinci Resolve, where the color palette was carefully shaped to highlight the warmth and richness of the Omo Valley’s natural light. DOBO premiered at the European Film Festival in Addis Ababa and later screened at the Can Africa Film Festival in Paris, where it received exceptional recognition for its visual storytelling, authenticity, and emotional depth.
